Our website has been down for over two weeks which has meant no Match Reports or updates in a while. After drawing with Dinnington on the 27th April, The Badgers played Newark Town away. That took place on Saturday 8th May, also resulting in a draw. It finished up 2-2. Goals from Jonathan Fusco and Sam Foulds. In the final game of the group on Tuesday 11th May the Badgers suffered a three nil loss to Dinnington Town. Which meant they would finish second in the group to Dinnington. With the top two of every group going through to the knockouts, the Badgers progressed. They would face Group Three winners, Clay Cross Town in the quarter finals.
With spectators now allowed back, both Team and Supporters travelled to Mill Lane. The Badgers took the first blow with Cross taking the lead in the first half. But it would be United who would have the last laugh, With Foulds equalising on the 60th minute and a late winner from Stuart Ludlam would put the Badgers through to the next stage of the tournemant. Cannon Park was the venue and Crowle Colts was the opponent. The Badgers scored in the first minute. Oliver Lawrence put it on a plate for Steven McDonnell to head it in, a fantastic start to the game. Little did they know that that would be the only action of the semi final. The Badgers held on to the one nil lead for the whole of the game. The whistle was blown for full time and the Badgers were through to the final of the Chairman’s Cup.
The other semi-final took place last night, Mickleover Reserves came out victorious with a 2-1 win over Rowsley 86 meaning we will face Mickleover in the final. The Chairman’s Cup final will be held this Saturday at the world’s oldest club, Sheffield FC. Kick off at the BT Local Business Stadium will be 18:00, the postcode is S18 2GD. It would be great to see as many Badgers fans as possible to support the lads! Your support on Saturday for the semi-final was immense.
