Badgers Hit Teversal For Six

Last night the Badgers faced Teversal Reserves at Tomlin Park. After not playing for two weeks it would be a good game for us to regroup and get a boost with a good performance. We started well putting pressure on the Teversal defence and creating many chances. Mlynarski swung in crosses from the left and Daughtrey from the right. West attacked through the middle with help from the midfield three, Abdulla, Kane and new signing Barlow.

The Teversal keeper pulled off an impressive save in the 11th minute to deny West getting the opener, but then 10 minutes later he did get the first goal after a goal line scramble. The Badgers continued with the pressing, hungry for a second. Mlynarski and Barlow looked very influential. 5 minutes before the break. Mark West turned two defenders and sprinted towards goal and then with ease he put it past the keeper to get his and Retford’s second of the night.

Even though the lead was only by two at half time, It was clear the Badgers were the much better side. Jay Paling started off the second half positively with a phenomenal run down the right hand side to create a big chance but West couldn’t get on the end of it. Mark got his Hat-trick and fourth goal within the next four minutes. One being a very tidy finish, post and in.

The Badgers were 4 nil up but it could’ve been a lot more if it wasn’t for the Teversal keeper. The fifth goal came from Danny Abdulla and what a goal it was! He found the top left corner of the net after beating the defender on the edge of the box with a Cruyff turn. Oliver Lawrence returned through substitution and U21 players Liam Frost and Nathan Blagg came on in the final third. In the 78th minute Tom Brook got the sixth and final goal of the game after heading in from a corner. A very dominant performance from the Badgers. We progress into the next round of the League Cup. Draw and date of the second round is TBC. We return to Cannon Park this Saturday to face Thorne Colliery in the League.
