AFC Bentley Preview

Tomorrow the Badgers face AFC Bentley at Cannon Park. Along with Askern, we haven’t played them at home or away this season due to postponements. Despite Bentley being eleventh in the table they’re a good team with an array of talented players. We have played them a few times in previous seasons and they have always produced good games.

AFC Bentley’s last game was a 2-1 loss to Dronfield Town Reserves on Tuesday. They’re not in the best of form at the moment losing four on the bounce. But two of them four was Dinnington and Harworth who we know are strong teams. Bentley’s danger man seems to be Theo Mowatt who has scored five this season, three from open play and two from the penalty spot. Retford’s danger man is certainly Dean Conway who has been in phenomenal form ever since he signed back in November. Dean now has 15 goals from 9 appearances, all from open play.  We have also been great in the wide areas recently, with no full backs being able to deal with Adam Daughtrey or Igor Mlynarksi. Ben Thornton will now also be available for squad selection. Another option up front for Liam to make the most of.

After our good midweek performance against Staveley, hopefully we can carry on that momentum and go on another winning streak. We need to get as many points as possible before the end of the season, to have a chance of catching the top two. We’re also undefeated at home this season which is a great achievement and we’re looking to keep it that way. Make sure you’re at Cannon Park tomorrow for the 15:00 kick off to support the lads. Your support has been highly appreciated this season so let’s keep that up. Up the Badgers!
