We return to league action tomorrow night as we welcome Knaresborough Town to Cannon Park.

Following Saturday’s disappointing FA Cup defeat away at AFC Mansfield, we’ll be looking to make amends with a big response in front of our home support.

It has still been a positive start to life back at Step 5, with two wins from our opening three league games. We currently sit fifth in the table and will be looking to stay around the top end throughout the season. Knaresborough have experienced the complete opposite to us as they opened the season with an impressive victory over Thackley before suffering a 3-0 defeat to Frickley Athletic and a 2-1 loss against Bottesford Town.

That leaves Wednesday’s visitors 14th in the early table with three points and a -2 goal difference, although there is only so much that can be taken from the opening three fixtures. Last season, Knaresborough finished a respectable ninth in the NCEL Premier Division, 19 points outside the play-off places, and they have consistently established themselves around the middle of the table over the last few seasons.

They will arrive at Cannon Park on a high after progressing in the FA Cup at the weekend with a 2-1 home victory over Whickham FC.

We’ll be strengthened by the return of Ben Ashall, while Matt Tootle will have to wait until Saturday to make his return as he serves the final game of his suspension. It should be another great night of football under the lights at Cannon Park. Get yourself down, get behind the lads and help us make home advantage count.
