Tomorrow night the Badgers will hopefully travel to Debdale Park to face Sherwood Colliery Reserves in the Buckingham Insurance Challenge Cup Quarter Finals. I say hopefully because the game may not go ahead due to the extreme weather conditions that have occurred all over England these last few days. The weather has also continued to not improve leaving a doubt on the game. All will be decided by a pitch inspection tomorrow, so make sure to keep a look out on Twitter and Facebook for updates on whether the game will go ahead.
The club was formed in 2008, although a club of the same name did compete in the FA Cup in the late 1940s and early 1950s. They joined the Central Midlands League in 2012, and entered the FA Vase for the first time in 2016 where they beat both Penistone Church and Clipstone both of higher divisions before being knocked out 3-2 by Westfields
Colliery Reserves are currently top of the Black Dragon South Division and were unbeaten until last weekend when they were beaten by Holbrook Sports 5-1. Despite that slip up they have dominated the League beating the likes of Clay Cross Town, (who we know from last season are a formidable force) Pinxton and Mansfield Hosiery Mills in the league to secure the top spot. They beat Clay Cross once again 3-2 in the previous round of this cup. Sherwood’s danger man seems to be Triston Burrell who has only started 8 times this season and scored 14 goals, most of them from coming off the bench. They also have good goal scorers in Liam West and Jordan Ingram who have a total tally of 25 this season.
Despite the 3 red cards on Saturday all the players will be available with it being a Cup Game. It’s a very big game for the Badgers with Liam and the management team desperate to get their hands on some silverware this season. If the game does go ahead it will kick off at 19:45 at Debdale Park, make sure to get there in plenty of time Badgers, Tickets are £3 & £2. Up The Badgers!
