It is important to the club and that we appoint the right management team that can help bring to life our ambitious plans. We have been inundated with applications and this is not a decision we have taken lightly.
It is my pleasure to announce that Liam Kay as of this week has been appointed as First team manager. Liam has shown his drive and ambition whilst managing the development team. This type of attitude is a breath of fresh air much needed within the First Team. Liam has a wide range of experience within various non-league football teams, his tactical thinking and knowledge of the game I am sure will help to guide and push the team further. I have no doubt that Liam will bring the skills to strengthen the standard and performance of the players to help guide them to a passionate and hardworking performance in tonight’s semi final with Pinxton.
I am excited to see what Liam brings, and with his help turn the club into an environment where players have the opportunity to develop their skills and grow as players, from juniors to development to first team.
Wayne Firth, Vice Chairman
Liam deserves an opportunity for first team football at a club that has ambition as did all the established managers that applied at the start of their careers. I want RUFC to be a club that firstly looks internally for talent across the board and becomes a great club with a spirit of opportunity and prosperity as well as success. Liam embraces my ethos and promises to engage with all teams and coaching staff across the piste. Good luck to you Liam. The club is behind you.’
